Why it's never wine o'clock for me

I got out the habit of drinking alcohol in the evenings when I was pregnant and then breastfeeding. I acquired a taste for Beck's Blue Alcohol-Free Lager and have continued to drink it ever since. It's particularly nice on a sunny evening like yesterday.

There are some advantages of not drinking wine in the evenings any more. I sleep more consistently, and am less likely to snore. Plus it is nice not to have hangovers. I think my skin looks better. And drinking fewer calories means I can eat more cake and chocolate without getting fat.

Linking up with this week's Photo Gallery at Sticky Fingers - check it out if you want to see what other people are drinking.

  1. I definitely think that drinking less alcohol makes you feel healthier and gives your skin a better glow. I'm a sucker for a bottle of chilled lager too - never tried the alcohol free one though.

    1. Becks Blue is the nicest alcohol free lager I've tried so far, you should give it a go. Avoid Kaliber though - it's pretty horrible.

  3. I stopped drinking for YEARS because of pregnancy/breastfeeding...and then I just didn't crave it anymore. But now I have a renewed interest. ;)

    1. I do still drink sparkling wine on special occasions, it's just that I no longer drink ordinary wine on an ordinary evening.

  4. I haven't had a drink since 2008, having been pregnant or bfing the whole time... I never thought to compensate with more cake. Maybe I will now ;)

    1. I think you can have more cake so long as your non-alcoholic drinks are lower in calories than alcoholic drinks ;)

  6. Lots of good reasons! Really can't do hangovers anymore, far too miserable with kids bouncing about. Never tried Becks Blue, will look out for it :)

    1. I hate hangovers, they seem to have got worse as I've got older. Let me know how you get on with the Becks Blue :)

  7. We went to Munich when I was pregnant with number 4 and I had a gorgeous alcohol free beer there. You genuinely couldn't make the difference with a 'real' one!
